Sing Australia Port Pirie is one of the dozen or so Sing Australia groups established in 2004. Its members were given the opportunity to get the feel for being part of the Sing Australia network very soon after commencing rehearsals, by attending the inaugural Sing Australia State gathering in South Australia held in Port Augusta in July, 2004.

Sing Australia Port Pirie is very welcoming of new members and would love to see you if you would like to come along and sing without auditions or pressure. Just give Tessa a call or turn up on a Monday night!

All Sing Australia groups have the same large repertoire of songs including folk, pop and opera as well as traditional Welsh hymns, contained in the Sing Australia Songbook Library. The Library also includes seasonal repertoire in the Sing Australia Anzac and Christmas Songbooks.

New members and visitors are always welcome.

2009 Highlights

WOW  - What a year we've had!

We have:

  • a very "social" group who thoroughly enjoy just being together , as well as singing;
  • grown our weekly average attendances from 10 to 23 & finished the year with 28 members;
  • performed at 21 gigs - travelling to Peterborough, Jamestown, Kadina & our local events - sometimes combining with Laura & Peterborough groups;
  • a very supportive, caring leadership team:  Roger Cox (conductor) has brought us to new heights in our singing abilities;  ably accompanied by Anne Richardson (pianist extraordinaire); & supported by our effervescent leader, Tessa Collins;
  • celebrated an Engagement of 2 of our choir members; our 5th birthday & Christmas together;
  • received grants & donations enabling us to buy an amplifier, more books & CDs;
  • participated in the mini State Gathering held here in Pt. Pirie in August - lots of fun;
  • continued to keep photos & records of our activities to celebrate our growth & achievements.

Tessa had a ball at the National Gathering in Perth, WA,  while Anne Schaffner & Fran Birrell helped with leadership tasks over the year.
