Sing Australia Queanbeyan - Community Group of the Year

Tuesday 26th of January 2010

At the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony yesterday, Sing Australia Queanbeyan was awarded the "Community Group of the Year" by the Queanbeyan City Council. The joint-leaders, Jan Quane and Margaret Taylor were presented with a framed certificate and a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Sing Australia Queanbeyan (and some Canberra group members) had been performing at the ceremony, and its members were delighted when the announcement was made.

Sing Australia Queanbeyan was formed in July 2002, and has been very active performing in the local community since its formation. During 2009 the group performed at over 20 functions, singing at Nursing Homes, Retirement Villages, and taking part in many local events. These included Australia Day, Anzac Day, Seniors Concerts and Carols in the Park. To achieve this wonderful award truly shows the value placed on the group by the City Council.

Congratulations to Sing Australia Queanbeyan.
