SUMMARY:International Peace Day Service
DESCRIPTION:The UN International Peace Day Service is a non-denominational service held annually around the world to mark the international day of peace. It is to be held once again at the Uniting Church\, Pacific Highway\, Lindfield on Saturday 21st September at 11am. \nThis special event is open to ALL members of the general community\, and is generally attended by church and community leaders as well as local schools. The ecumenical service is held in the main hall at the rear of the church\, and features special contributions from a dozen different faiths\, two community choirs (including Sing Australia Gordon) and two youth groups. Refreshments are served afterwards with the Mayor. \nWe will be performing three songs: Let There Be Peace on Earth\, Shelter and Make me a Channel of your Peace (SATP Book 1 and the Anzac Book). \nFull uniform is required for the service. If you do not have full uniform\, we ask that you wear a white long sleeve shirt with black pants (or black skirt for women)\, with black shoes. We ask our members to arrive at 10:30am in order to prepare and practise\, and to increase your chances of favourable parking.

SUMMARY:Sing Out Sydney 2017
DESCRIPTION:In 2017\, Sing Australia were lucky to have their registration accepted to participate in this year’s Sing Out Sydney event hosted by ABC Radio 1. Twenty three lucky members of Sing Australia Ashbury\, Collaroy\, Gordon and Sutherland will be attending the event as a collective choir representing Sing Australia. They will join a mass choir of around 600 people coming from other Sydney community choirs to celebrate Ausmusic Month. \nWhile other choirs will be performing in their own right\, all participants will come together as one for a grand finale\, singing a specially-arranged version of Nick Cave’s “The Ship Song” in four parts. The Sing Australia choir were unfortunately not selected to perform in their own right for this event. \nABC Radio will be recording Sing Out Sydney and will be playing highlights on Weekend Breakfast with Simon Marnie on Saturday 18 November at 11am; and on Evenings with Chris Bath\, Wednesday 22 November 8-9pm. A full recording of the event will be on their website at www.abc.net.au/radio/sydney from 5pm Friday 17 November.

DESCRIPTION:Gordon will be hosting their Annual Charity Concert on Friday 3rd November at Gordon East Public School Hall at 8:00pm. Partners\, friends and relatives of Gordon members are invited to attend and enjoy a night of singing and some special performances from some of the members. \nThis year’s concert will be raising funds for Moorambilla Voices\, a program which aims to support children of outback regional NSW to have the opportunity to create\, perform and record a repertoire of music that has its core artistic inspiration from this region. \nThe concert will start at 8:00pm and run until 9:15pm\, to be followed by refreshments. Tickets can be purchased via Sing Australia Gordon members. Members are asked to wear full uniform and to arrive before 7:30pm to help prepare the hall and welcome guests.

The Expo is being run by Hornsby Council\, and Sing Australia Gordon will have an information kiosk from 11:00am to 2:00pm to promote the advantages of singing for health in mind\, body and soul. Gordon will sing 6-7 songs at 12:30pm and full uniform is required. Members will be advised if the Expo will be cancelled should there be inclement weather.
