SUMMARY:St Patrick's Day at Tamworth Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Happy hour at the Tamworth Gardens retirement complex is a regular weekly feature for residents. St Patrick’s Day will bring extra fun and participation with all things green (clothing\, hair\, accessories etc). A few of our singers reside at the gardens and one of them (the very keen Loretta) has organised for our group to provide some entertainment. It’s short notice but we’ve been practising our Irish repertoire leading up to March 17th so this is an opportunity for our group to swell on the day and perhaps attract some new members. Hopefully it will be an even livelier St Paddy’s celebration than we would have come up with on our own. DESCRIPTION:Sing Australia Tamworth has again been asked to lead the singing for our city’s Remembrance Day service from the balcony of our Town Hall in Fitzroy Street\, Tamworth.  The service is 10am-12pm on Monday\, November 11th with singers requested to arrive at 9.45am in full Sing Australia uniform.  There will be two songs from our Anzac Book: O God Our Help in Ages Past and the National Anthem.  There are no perceived risks for the performance as singers have been advised of the best parking places and instructed to arrive in plenty of time.  Car pooling has also been recommended and less physically able singers to be given help to climb the stairs or not attend if the climb is too challenging for them.  Singers will bring closed water bottles to manage our current heat wave.

Crowds and busy traffic area around town hall on Anzac Day- risk reduced by less confident drivers travelling with others and singers given generous time allowances and suggestions for parking.

SUMMARY:Attunga Christmas Carols
DESCRIPTION:Annual event marking our “comeback from Covid” last year. The carols are now held in the charming\, refurbished local hall\, much safer than the previous outdoor setting. There are tricky steps onto the stage so our group will sing from the floor at the front of the hall. There are also front steps which singers will be advised to negotiate carefully and with help if needed. Illumination with be requested from the organisers. Attunga is about 20 minutes from Tamworth and car pooling will be recommended for singers.

SUMMARY:Nashos Remembrance Day Service
DESCRIPTION:Last minute request from Mary help of Christians church to provide a few singers to boost their small church singing group on Remembrance Day. We sang at the dedication of their new memorial bell earlier in the year\, a big occasion coinciding with the legacy torch relay. We have a clash with our commitment at the town hall on Nov 11th but this gig is more suitable for a few of our less mobile singers and parishioners of this church so we can manage representation at both functions. A request has already been submitted for the town hall service. The church is mobility friendly with off street parking including disabled parking\, ramps to the church and level ground at the site.

SUMMARY:11th birthday dinner celebration
DESCRIPTION:Sing Australia Tamworth has opted for a social dinner outing to celebrate our 11th birthday. On October 10th\, 2012 Colin visited Tamworth for an information and singing night and was delighted with our turn-out of 50 people and a fabulous supper. Our group commenced officially the next week\, October 17th and has persisted through the ups and downs ever since. After plunging from 30 singers pre covid to single digits post covid\, we’re now back up to 20 so this birthday is one to really celebrate. The dinner is an extension of our usual singing time (a singalong of old favourites WITHOUT BOOKS) after which we will meet at a nearby pub. The pub has good parking and access for people with mobility issues and less confident drivers will be offered transport.

DESCRIPTION:Annual open day event held at the historical Calala Cottage. Disabled parking available for less mobile singers. Members encouraged to car pool as parking may be at a premium. We will sing outdoors on level ground in the garden. Singers advised to wear hats and bring water bottles as well as a fold up chair if required. We perform 2×15-20 minute brackets at 10am and 11am allowing time in between to wander around the fair. We will sing well known favourites as well as a selection of Australiana numbers.

SUMMARY:Parkinson's Support Group Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Singing is very beneficial for people with Parkinson’s disease so we have been invited to lead an informal singalong with meeting participants as we have a number of times in the past. We distribute spare Sing Australia songbooks to partcipants so they can join in the singing. This was originally initiated by one of our past members who has Parkinson’s- the delightful Dot Hutton. Dot and her husband Len are heading off to Newcastle to live so this is a chance for us to say thank you and goodbye. The meetings are conducted in daylight hours at a familiar venue with ample close parking and disabled access. A few more confident drivers help with the transport of some of our members with health issues. Some people may choose to attend lunch afterwards at a nearby hotel with similarly suitable parking and access. Details of location yet to be decided by Parkinson’s Group- are these required in this risk assessment? All good.

SUMMARY:Tamworth Evening VIEW Club Musical Afternoon
DESCRIPTION:This annual fundraiser is run by the Tamworth Evening VIEW Club for the Learning for Life Program. It was one of our group’s first ever performances soon after we formed 10 years ago and we have sung every year except for 2022 when our nos were depleted due to covid. So our re-appearance is a symbol of our successful rebuilding- WE’RE BACK!!\nWe will sing five songs- a Seekers selection (in recognition of Judith Durham) and Fields of Athenry.\nThe event is in daylight hours and the venue has disabled access and facilities such as disabled parking. The stage area has two steps with a handrail but less mobile singers can stand (or sit on a chair) on the floor rather than performing from the stage. Assistance will be given as singers walk on and off stage. Some singers will travel together to and from the venue if they are worried about driving and traffic on the day.
